The ePACES application has some enhanced functionality to allow for simplified maintenance processes in comparison to the PACES application. Below is a cross-reference table of PACES processes and how they are affected by or relate to new ePACES functionality.

Application Installation / Software Updates

New versions require software to be sent and installed on each individual machine.

Open URL in your Internet Browser, latest version of application automatically installed.

Diagnosis/Procedure Codes

Manual entry process to create local file of codes. No validation of the values on entry.

Valid code values are stored within the database and will be validated based on the current NYS Grouper version by the system .

Payer

None

Local support file of Other Payer information.

Providers

Manual process to enter details for all providers. Information may become outdated.

Using ID or Name, automatically build local support file of frequently used Medicaid and Non-Medicaid providers. Most recent Medicaid Provider information always used when creating claims or other transactions.

Recipients/Clients

Recipient data must be manually entered into the local file or each individual claim.

All Client information, based on Client ID only, is retrieved from the database.

Submitter

Details must be manually collected and entered.

Information is retrieved from database based on the User ID.

Users

None

Role-based access privileges defined by System Administrator. Roles: 1 Primary Administrator, at least 1 additional Administrator, Supervisor (optional), General User.
